- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆Wanted to send a very thick Styrofoam chest to friends in Blythe, CA. Agent wanted to put chest in a cardboard box to protect it for getting beat up. Saw on ipad screen the box was $6.65 and sub total was $34.67. Then agent said cost was $70. I asked how he got $70 when box cost was $6.65 and ostensibly shipping cost was ($35.67 - $6.65) about $29? He said to ignore the ipad screen -- the total was $70. I asked him to break down the $70 cost. He said he didn't understand what I was saying. I repeated what I saw on the ipad screen and could not come up with the $70. He said the $70 was cost of the cardboard box, plus custom packaging, plus shipping. I said forget the cardboard box, how much to ship the "unprotected" chest to Blythe? Final price was $27.56 (5% AAA card discount). Caveat Emptor.By Patrick Rossi, June 01, 2017
